Jasper Carrott - Day Trip To Blackpool [Bangor] [1981]
Taken from his Beat The Carrott LP from 1981, this comedy version of the Fiddlers' Dram 1979 hit single, Day Trip To Bangor was recorded live at the London Palladium.
A comedy classic, up there with anything, it is a hoot, and reminds us how funny Jasper Carrot could be.
If there is any interest, I may upload the whole LP.
I hope you enjoy it!

Snot Rap Part 2 [Rapping Again] - Kenny Everett [1984]
Here is the less-well known follow up to the Top 10 hit Snot Rap, by the legendary Kenny Everett.
It is very similar in style to the first part, sung by his best characters, Si, Cupid, and Marcel.
At time of writing, there was a great video post from Cosmobells of the best of Kenny Everett, I loved it!

Harry Enfield - Loadsamoney [Doin' Up The House] [1988]
This 1988 single by comedian Harry Enfield as his Saturday Live character Loadsamoney reached Number 4 in the UK charts, showing, if anything, his massive popularity at that time.
The track is a mickey-take on the sample-filled dance and rap of the late 80s, and still raises a smile, I think!

The Floral Dance - Terry Wogan [1978]
Possibly the ultimate novelty record, Radio 2 DJ Terry Wogan made the Brighouse And Rastrick version of this one of the biggest selling singles never to make it to Number One, and so he was persuaded to record this tongue-in-cheek vocal version and it was a moderate hit making the Top 30 in 1978.
He even made an appearance on Top Of The Pops! [You Tube Clip]

Arthur Daley E's Alright - The Firm [1982]
To follow on from Cosmobells post of George Cole & Dennis Waterman's novelty single, ''What Are We Gonna Get For 'Er Indoors'', I offer this related novelty single by The Firm, who went on to have a Number One five years later with ''Star Trekkin'''.
This is a Chas 'N' Dave style song sung by someone sounding very like Dennis Waterman and it reached Number 14 in July 1982.

Hold My Hand - Ken Dodd [1981]
One of Ken Dodd's last hit records, reaching the Top 75 in 1981, this is a very happy, jolly song, hard to find now, as it is not even on my dad's 3CD set.

It's Only Love - Tony Blackburn [1969]
This is one of the Radio One DJ's late 60s attempts at a pop career, however after stalling at no. 42 in March 1969, he wisely decided to concentrate on playing, rather than making records.
The song itself is not too bad, being a decent late 60s pop song, well produced, and the singing, while not being too ambitious, is OK, too.

Up Pompeii - Frankie Howerd [1971]
Theme song from the film of Frankie Howerd's classic TV series, Up Pompeii.
Sung by Frankie himself in very much his own comedy style!

Love Crazy [Theme From Carry On Emmannuelle] - Masterplan [1978]
Hello there, and welcome to my new blog, highlighting a selection of the best [and worst] of what you might call Novelty songs!
I kick off with this very rare theme single from the last proper Carry On film, Carry On Emmanuelle, Love Crazy, written by Kenny Lynch and performed by Masterplan [or was it just Kenny Lynch under an assumed name? My Uncle Jack swears that is definitely Kenny Lynch singing].
The song is a pastiche of 70s disco and fit the film very well [one of the few things that did, the script certainly didn't].
I hope you enjoy it, leave a comment, and if you have any similar stuff, please upload it and let me know about it!
